ÇéÉ«ÎåÔÂÌì athletes District Champions

In what is quickly becoming the best season ever for athletics at the school, our students reigned supreme at the District Championships on Wednesday. Held at Woodside in Watford, the event saw St Clement Danes becoming Overall District Champions as well as winning the Boys and Girls’ competitions. There were also wins for the Year 10 Boys, Year 10 Girls, Year 9 Girls and Year 8 Boys. There were so many superb performances that it is difficult to pick out highlights, but special mention must go to Ben Hunter who won the best performance award for Year 7 for his 1500m run in a superb time of 4 mins 56 secs, smashing the district record. Ben and 14 other students won their events, becoming District Champions:  Ben Pullen, Toby Laycock, Nathan May, Grace Hucknall, Adam Ridout, Will Gauke, Christy Nicholas, Mia Henson, Josh Greengrow, Luke Milicevic, Hannah Dickins, Emilia Turnbull, Marie Wensel and Helena French.

Mr Birkett expressed his pride in the students and thanked the staff who have worked so hard throughout the season to coach them. ‘We are now looking forward to the Hertfordshire County Finals on 5th July where we are hoping to put in another fine performance to finish the season in style.’

Congratulations to all the athletes and to the staff who have coached them all season.
