Going for Gold in Maths Challenge!

Congratulations to the 136 students in Years 9, 10 and 11 who took part in the Intermediate Maths Challenge, which was held on Thursday 6th March. Special congratulations go to sixty percent of our entrants who received a certificate following their participation in the challenge, compared to the national average of forty percent of entrants receiving certificates! In total the students achieved 41 Bronze, 28 Silver and 11 Gold Certificates. All of the recipients of Gold Certificates have qualified for the follow-on round, which will be held on Thursday 19th March.

Particular congratulations go to Freddy Nash in Year 9 and Mia Bentham in Year 11 who have qualified for the Maths Olympiad. Only the top 600 students nationally in each year group qualify for the Olympiad. In addition, Mia’s excellent performance has resulted in Mia receiving an invitation to attend a week-long residential summer school, run by United Kingdom Mathematics Trust in July.

Well done to all our students, and good luck to those going through to the next round on 19th March, and also to Freddy and Mia for their next round of the Olympiad.
