ÇéÉ«ÎåÔÂÌì student heads off to World Karting Championships as British Vice Champion
STOP PRESS: Since this article was published, William did extremely well in the Grand Final. Starting from 20th on the grid, he came a creditable 7th, recording the second fastest lap of all. Well done Will!
William Pettitt, Year 10, will next week be jetting off to Italy to take part in the Grand Finals in Italy, karting’s biggest world event.
To qualify for this prestigious event, Will finished as Vice Champion in the Super One Junior Rotax National Championship at the end of September with an exceptional performance. Towards the end of the race, rain made the track very slippery, but thankfully Will held his nerve. He is also the current British Open Champion, a title he won back in March.
Will is very excited about having the opportunity to go to these finals. The track, Circuito Internazionale Napoli, is an internationally renowned track and is still used today by Formula One drivers to practise. It is karting’s biggest world event and all the drivers who attend in their various categories are the best in their countries. Will will be part of the GB Team and will have his own special British overalls specially designed and fitted.
We are delighted at his success so far and wish him the best of luck for the Grand Finals.
